Coaching Architecture - why is it important?

I have found in my years of coaching and mentoring with various clients at all levels of seniority and experience that when setting out it is vital to agree a Coaching Architecture.  This may seem obvious, is often overlooked in the early days and is virtually impossible to go back to once the programme is underway with a client.  first things first.  Establish the ground rules and goals before becoming involved in the delivery.  Stand back from the issues before helping the client solve their problems.  This does not require a huge amount of time, nor fancy techniques but a lot of listening and self control.
